Speakers Bureau

The Cleveland Fed’s Speakers Bureau offers experts who provide insight on a broad range of Bank- and economics-related topics. Our speakers can give presentations, lead workshops, or serve as panelists, providing an exchange of ideas that fosters discussion and encourages audience involvement. We work with professional, business, and civic groups. This free service is available to groups of 25 or more, subject to calendar and other restrictions listed below.

Please submit your request at least three months in advance.

Limitations

Our speakers cannot accept invitations to

• Political gatherings or fundraisers.
• Events hosted by financial institutions or where they are the only sponsors.
• Events for current or prospective clients/customers of a for-profit company.
• Programs scheduled during a Federal Reserve communications blackout period, if the topic relates to the current economy or monetary policy. Blackout dates are listed below.

Common topics

• The Federal Reserve Explained: Most people have heard of the Federal Reserve but often don’t know exactly what the Fed does and why. This talk provides an overview of the Federal Reserve: It covers why the Fed was founded, how it’s structured and its many functions—from managing interest rate policy to supervising banks and distributing cash.
• Regional Economic Outlook: An overview of economic conditions focused on the Cleveland Fed region, which covers Ohio, western Pennsylvania, eastern Kentucky, and the northern panhandle of West Virginia. Topics include the outlook for economic growth, the labor market, and housing, plus a brief review of the structure and role of the Federal Reserve. A question-and-answer session follows.
• National Economic Outlook: An overview of national economic conditions. Includes the outlook for economic growth, the labor market, housing, and other issues from a national perspective, along with an overview of the Federal Reserve’s structure and responsibilities. A question-and-answer period follows.
• Economic Research: Cleveland Fed economists discuss their research in areas such as labor markets, inflation dynamics and measurement, forecasting, banking, small business trends, and the Fourth District economy. • Bank Supervision Issues: Examination of emerging issues affecting Fourth District financial institutions on topics such as safety and soundness, banking conditions and trends, and laws protecting consumers’ rights.
• Payments System: Discussion of payments services the Federal Reserve provides to depository institutions and the federal government, such as electronic payments and cash operations.
• Community Development: Topics include economic and workforce development, affordable housing, access to credit and capital, and small business.
