Applying for open positions

To apply, you’ll submit your materials—a current resume and any other supporting documentation requested, depending on the position—through the Bank’s application platform. Apply for as many different positions as you are qualified for (the Cleveland Fed has lots of opportunities). You can choose to upload a different resume for each position to which you apply.

What to expect once you’ve applied

Now that you’ve applied, what’s next? Once you’ve applied online for a specific position, you’ll receive an email acknowledging our receipt of your application. Our recruitment team will review your application materials, looking at your skills and experience to see how well they match with the position requirements. If you’re chosen for consideration, a recruiter will contact you to schedule an initial phone screen. After the phone screen, you may be selected for subsequent interviews.

After the interview process is complete, a recruiter may contact you with an employment offer. If you are not selected for hire, you will be notified, and your information will be maintained in the Cleveland Fed’s recruiting database should you wish to apply for another position in the future. Check our Search Jobs page for additional employment opportunities. You can also log in and check your application status at any time.

Onboarding

If you’ve been offered a position and have accepted it, the next step in the process is a thorough background check. Different positions have different requirements, but most require a verification of your education, previous employment, and social security number. In every instance, each new hire will undergo a drug screening and a fingerprint background check.

Once we receive satisfactory results from these various screenings, you can look forward to your first day on the job and a virtual new hire orientation.

We work hard to make the whole process as easy as possible, and we look forward to welcoming you to the Bank!

Our benefits

At the Cleveland Fed, we have you in mind.

In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, work–life balance benefits, professional development opportunities, and other programs designed to protect your health, enhance your financial security, and contribute to your engagement and overall well-being.

Health and wellness

When it comes to health and wellness, we know you want choices, and our industry-leading, comprehensive package gives you the power to manage your health and wellness. Four medical plan coverage levels are available to suit you and your family’s specific needs, and prescription, dental, and vision plans provide generous coverage at low cost to you. Same- and opposite-sex spouse, domestic partner, transgender, fertility, and adoption benefits are included—because we support you whatever the composition of your family. Want to stay (or get) fit? Each Cleveland Fed location has healthy food options and either onsite or offsite fitness benefits. And our wellness incentive programs can keep you on track.

Work–life balance

We know there’s more to life than work and that personal responsibilities take time and energy. We offer paid time off (PTO)—for doctor’s appointments, household repairs, rest and relaxation, and more—and flexible work schedules to allow you to better balance your work and your life. New parents get six weeks of paid parental leave (take it all at once or spread it out during your first 12 months together). Our childcare and eldercare referral services and back-up care benefits help you through those unexpected circumstances, too. And because service is a big part of our life at the Cleveland Fed, we offer paid volunteer hours through our volunteer program, Fed It Forward.

Financial security

Our financial benefits are designed to give you the compensation and advice you need today and the security you need tomorrow. In addition to market- and performance-based compensation, you’ll have an employer-sponsored 401k plan and a pension plan, be eligible for bonuses, and have access to pretax savings plans for commuting, healthcare, and childcare. You and your dependents will also be covered by the Fed’s identity theft protection program to give you peace of mind in today’s digital age. Not sure how to plan for your children’s college fund? We’ve got your back there, too—and in planning for other major life events—with financial education and counseling programs offered through Ayco.

Professional development

No matter your career stage, you can take advantage of opportunities for professional growth and development at the Cleveland Fed. Be challenged by the work you do. Be supported through ongoing coaching. And expand your skills and knowledge through education programs at local civic and academic institutions. We offer early-career development, leadership development for new and seasoned leaders, tuition reimbursement for select degrees and programs, and opportunities to work on cross-functional teams. We also have a peer-to-peer mentorship program.

Additional perks

Sometimes it’s the little things. Through partnerships with other programs, we provide discounted rates on cell phone service, group legal services, and car rentals; discounted tickets to amusement parks, entertainment venues, and attractions; and discounted technology and products such as software and computers. Two of our locations, Cleveland and Cincinnati, offer the convenience of onsite cafeterias, and all of our locations are located in bustling downtowns.

Where do you fit? Take a look below.

Research

Cleveland Fed economists publish high-quality academic research, conduct research-informed policy analysis, and support the Bank and Federal Reserve System through participation in Federal Reserve System initiatives, outreach that provides an understanding of national and regional economic conditions, and web content that offers access to research, analysis, innovative models, and key indicators and data. The department’s research analysts support the work of our Bank economists.

Community

Working from three cities—Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati—our Cleveland Fed community development team promotes the economic resilience and mobility of low- and moderate-income (LMI) people and communities throughout our District. Economists, policy analysts, and outreach managers listen, learn, and capture insights from community members; conduct applied research and analyze data and trends; share findings and policy implications through publications, webinars, meetings, and conferences; and convene key players in community and economic development to inform policy, decisionmaking, and investment.

Technology

Our technology experts work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality applications and information management solutions on behalf of the Federal Reserve System and the US Treasury. Work ranges from application development and information security to innovative digital payments solutions.

They also coordinate the Bank’s budgeting process, provide financial and cost accounting information, and procure services and supplies to support the Bank's operational and strategic initiatives.

Our employees in Supervision and Regulation promote a safe and sound banking system, foster financial market stability, and support compliance with laws and regulations, including those relating to consumer protection.

Statistics and Analysis

Teams in Statistics and Analysis support monetary policymaking, supervision and regulation, and fiscal agency responsibilities through collecting, analyzing, and ensuring the quality of financial and banking structure information.

Operations

Cleveland Fed operations employees keep things moving. They function in a fast-paced, inclusive team environment to safeguard not only Fed employees and facilities, but the integrity of the nation’s financial system, too.
