Cleveland Fed appoints Courtney Falato as senior vice president of external engagement
The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland announced that Courtney Falato will join the Bank in June as senior vice president of external engagement.
Falato has worked extensively in education, workforce development, and economic policy, with a focus on building partnerships to drive inclusive growth. Most recently, she served as vice president and program officer of global philanthropy at JPMorgan Chase, leading the firm’s community engagement strategies and cross-sector partnerships across Ohio and Kentucky. Falato managed a $35 million philanthropic portfolio focused on housing, entrepreneurship, workforce development, and financial health.
Before joining JPMorgan Chase, Falato was director of Smart Cities at the Ohio State University and oversaw the university’s role in the $50 million US Department of Transportation-funded Smart Columbus initiative. Earlier roles include leadership positions in the Dublin and Reynoldsburg City Schools and research positions at the American Institutes for Research and the University of Chicago.
“Courtney has experienced firsthand how institutions can become stronger partners in economic development when they listen to and work alongside the communities they serve,” said Beth Hammack, Cleveland Fed president and chief executive officer. “This expertise, knowledge of the Fourth District, and deep commitment to advancing economic opportunity for every individual make her a great addition to the Bank and our executive leadership team.”
Falato will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for external communications, education outreach, and community development in the Fourth Federal Reserve District.
Community development is one of the Federal Reserve’s core functions as the US central bank. Through research, outreach, and engagement, the Federal Reserve’s community development teams work to understand the economic experiences of lower-income households and communities in order to inform the monetary policymaking process and help build a stronger economy for all.
Falato is a long-time resident of the Fourth District and a graduate of the Ohio State University, where she earned a BA in political science. She also holds an MEd in social foundations in education from the University of Virginia.
She will begin her role at the Cleveland Fed on June 23.
