Iris Cumberbatch Named Vice President of Public Affairs for Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank

Iris Cumberbatch has been named vice president of Public Affairs at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, effective May 31, 2012. She will be responsible for leadership and oversight of the Public Affairs function, including public information, strategic communications, web services, and executive outreach.

Cumberbatch joins the Bank from Wells Fargo in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she served as senior vice president, corporate communications. Prior to that position, she held communications and public relations positions with Wachovia, Bank of America, and Citibank.

Cumberbatch is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the International Association of Business Communicators. She serves as vice chair of the Parish Council for Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church and is active in the Ladies Guild. She is immediate past chair of the United Way of Central Carolinas African American Leadership Initiative and has chaired the board of Shelter Health Services at the Salvation Army Women's & Children's Shelter, and the Queens University McColl School of Business Alumni Association.

Cumberbatch holds a bachelor's degree in journalism/communications from The Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from Queens University of Charlotte. She also holds an advanced certificate in mass communications from The University of Manchester in Manchester, United Kingdom, and currently is a PhD candidate at Antioch University in Yellow Springs, Ohio.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks that along with the Board of Governors in Washington DC comprise the Federal Reserve System. Part of the US central bank, the Cleveland Fed participates in the formulation of our nation’s monetary policy, supervises banking organizations, provides payment and other services to financial institutions and to the US Treasury, and performs many activities that support Federal Reserve operations System-wide. In addition, the Bank supports the well-being of communities across the Fourth Federal Reserve District through a wide array of research, outreach, and educational activities.

The Cleveland Fed, with branches in Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, serves an area that comprises Ohio, western Pennsylvania, eastern Kentucky, and the northern panhandle of West Virginia.
