Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland Appoints Miklich AVP

James Miklich has been appointed an assistant vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, effective January 1, 2005. Miklich will lead a team of employees responsible for distributed check processing hardware and software in 32 Federal Reserve offices nationwide. The hardware and software support key functions in the Federal Reserve System's nationwide check-clearing operation.

Miklich joined the Bank in 1974 as a computer programmer. He served in a variety of capacities in the information technology department prior to assuming responsibilities involving Federal Reserve System check software support. Miklich also had responsibility for the Bank's Y2K program, his contributions to which were recognized with the Bank's President's Award.

Miklich has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Case Western Reserve University and an MBA from Cleveland State University, with a specialization in computer and information science.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is one of twelve regional Reserve Banks that, along with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., comprise the Federal Reserve System. As the nation's central bank, the Federal Reserve System formulates U.S. monetary policy, supervises certain banks and all bank holding companies, and provides payment services to financial institutions and to the U.S. government. Payment services include check clearing, electronic payments, and the distribution of currency and coin.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks that along with the Board of Governors in Washington DC comprise the Federal Reserve System. Part of the US central bank, the Cleveland Fed participates in the formulation of our nation’s monetary policy, supervises banking organizations, provides payment and other services to financial institutions and to the US Treasury, and performs many activities that support Federal Reserve operations System-wide. In addition, the Bank supports the well-being of communities across the Fourth Federal Reserve District through a wide array of research, outreach, and educational activities.

The Cleveland Fed, with branches in Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, serves an area that comprises Ohio, western Pennsylvania, eastern Kentucky, and the northern panhandle of West Virginia.
