Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland Announces Official Appointments

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland announced the following appointments, effective March 16, 2003

Andrew (Bud) Burkle has been named senior vice president in charge of the Supervision and Regulation, Data Services, and Credit Risk Management Departments.

Burkle joined the Bank in 1969, serving in various management positions in the Supervision and Regulation Department. He was appointed assistant vice president in 1983 and vice president in 1986.

Burkle holds a bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University and is a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.

Jon Jeswald has been appointed vice president, with Systemwide responsibility for check operations and check automation support resources.

Jeswald began his career at the Bank in 1990 as an administrator in check adjustments at the Bank's Cleveland office. In 1994, he assumed responsibility for day shift check operations. In 1999, Jeswald joined the Federal Reserve System's Retail Product Office and assumed Systemwide responsibility for check automation project management. He was named assistant vice president later that same year.

Jeswald holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Ohio State University and a master's degree in business administration from John Carroll University.

Susan Kenney has been named assistant vice president with responsibility for managing the U.S. Treasury's Pay.gov service. Pay.gov is an internet portal that provides citizens, businesses, and federal agencies the option of processing government transactions electronically.

Kenney joined the Bank in 1976 as a programmer in the Data Systems Support Department. She was promoted to information technology services coordinator in 1999.

Kenney holds a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from John Carroll University.

William Mason has been named assistant vice president with responsibility for directing regional sales of Fed services and sales support for 10 states.

Mason joined the Bank in 1976 as an assistant auditor at the Bank's Cincinnati office. He has served as operations administrator in the Securities/Fiscal Department and has held various positions in the Bank's Marketing function, including his most recent position as district sales manager.

Mason earned his bachelor's degree in business administration -- with concentrations in economics and accounting -- from Northern Kentucky University. In addition, he is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin's Graduate School of Banking.

Thomas Schaadt has been named assistant vice president with responsibility for the architecture of the Federal Reserve System's check standardization project.

Schaadt joined the Bank in 1975 as a programmer at the Bank's Columbus regional check processing center. In 1980, he assumed responsibility for support of internally developed and vendor-supplied check processing software.

Schaadt holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Bowling Green State University.

James Slivka has been appointed assistant vice president. He will continue to have responsibility for managing the Bank's information systems audit function and providing leadership for Systemwide audit programs. In addition, Slivka will provide support to the Bank's general auditor.

Slivka joined the Bank in 1994 as information systems audit manager. Prior to joining the Bank, he served as vice president and deputy auditor of information systems at Society Corporation (now KeyCorp) in Cleveland.

Slivka holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Baldwin-Wallace College.

Diana Starks has been appointed assistant vice president with responsibility for check operations at the Bank's Cleveland office, and administrative responsibilities for the Fed's regional Image Services System (ISS) archive site.

Starks joined the Bank in 1974. She held various support and supervisory positions in the Securities/Fiscal Department prior to being named manager of the department in 1994. In 1999, she became day check operations manager at the Bank's Cleveland office.

Starks has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Hiram College and is pursuing a master's degree in Christian ministries. She is a graduate of the United Way Leadership Development Program and has completed the Bank Administration Institute's operations and technology program.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks that along with the Board of Governors in Washington DC comprise the Federal Reserve System. Part of the US central bank, the Cleveland Fed participates in the formulation of our nation’s monetary policy, supervises banking organizations, provides payment and other services to financial institutions and to the US Treasury, and performs many activities that support Federal Reserve operations System-wide. In addition, the Bank supports the well-being of communities across the Fourth Federal Reserve District through a wide array of research, outreach, and educational activities.

The Cleveland Fed, with branches in Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, serves an area that comprises Ohio, western Pennsylvania, eastern Kentucky, and the northern panhandle of West Virginia.
