Cash Services

The Cash Services team helps ensure that banks, credit unions and other depository institutions have sufficient supplies of currency and coin to meet public demand.

What we do

As the nation's central bank, the Federal Reserve System ensures that financial institutions have sufficient supplies of currency and coin to meet public demand. The Federal Reserve System operates 28 cash processing locations throughout the country, providing US currency and coin to financial institutions domestically and around the world. As of July 2022, US currency in circulation reached $2.30 Trillion worldwide.

Where we operate

Within the Fourth District, the Cleveland Fed maintains core Cash Services operations, employing a total of 90 full-time employees, in Cleveland and Cincinnati, plus a depot in Pittsburgh. Our service footprint extends beyond Fourth District boundaries, and we also operate depots in Buffalo, New York and Louisville, Kentucky to service financial institutions in those areas.
