Consumers and COVID-19

The novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19 and the virus’s spread across the globe have caused human suffering and significant loss of life in the United States and around the world. The virus and the steps taken to slow its spread have produced large-scale economic disruptions and job losses. In an effort to understand the resulting economic impacts, researchers at the Cleveland Fed have been maintaining surveys of consumers to capture how consumers’ beliefs and expectations have changed over time as the pandemic has unfolded. This website will be updated regularly with the survey results.
