  • Out of an abundance of caution the Cleveland Learning Center and Money Museum and the Cincinnati Learning Center are closed to the public and in-person field trips until further notice.

A field trip to the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland Learning Center and Money Museum is the perfect companion to your curriculum for K–12 and university students with both in-person and virtual opportunities. In-person field trips our available at our Cincinnati and Cleveland locations.

Virtual Field Trips

  • All visits are conducted through Zoom, Google Meets, Microsoft Teams, or Webex. Participant links are sent to the educator or coordinator to share with students. Field trips can be adjusted to meet technology needs
  • Virtual field trips are compatible with virtual, in-person, or hybrid classrooms
  • Visits are conducted Monday–Thursday at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm (Exceptions can be made)
  • Educators will need access to a PC with a functioning camera and microphone as well as internet connectivity
  • Prior to your scheduled visit, a test call is conducted to ensure there are no connectivity issues
  • Activities are shared virtually with educators prior to the visit

In-Person Field Trips

Cleveland

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland’s building—a national historic landmark—stands as a monument to the superb craftsmanship and prosperity of the post-World War I era. Guided tours of the Bank offer students an insider’s view of this impressive building as well as a look at the operations of the US central bank.

  • Location: The Learning Center and Money Museum, Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, 1455 East Sixth Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44114. Visitors will enter at the Superior Avenue entrance
  • Program length: 1–1.5 hours
  • Audience: Tours are provided to teachers, school groups (grades 8–12), college students, and community groups upon request
  • Group size: Groups should not exceed 35 individuals (including chaperones for school groups)
  • Cost: All tours are free of charge

Parking and driving directions

Public parking lots and garages are available around East 9th Street. The Bank cannot validate parking passes. Drivers who stay with their buses may park on Rockwell Avenue between East 6th and East 9th Streets.

  • From the south via I-480 west and I-77
    • Take I-77 north and exit at East 14th St. Follow East 14th St. and turn left on Prospect Ave. and right on East 9th St. Turn left on Rockwell Ave., left on East 6th St., and left on Superior Ave
  • From the west via I-90
    • Take I-90 east and exit at East 9th St. Travel north on East 9th St. and turn left onto Rockwell Ave. Turn left on East 6th St and left on Superior Ave
  • From the northeast via I-90
    • Take I-90 west and keep right to continue on OH-2 west. Take the East 9th St. exit and turn left onto East 9th St. Turn right onto St. Clair Ave., left onto East 6th St., and left onto Superior Ave

How to prepare for your visit

To ensure a safe and fun visit for your entire group, please follow these guidelines:

Arrival and check-in

  1. Please plan to arrive no more than 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time for security screening.
  2. There is no on-site parking. Suggested parking: Paid lot at West 3rd and Rockwell.
  3. Please enter via our Superior Avenue entrance.
  4. The group leader should go directly into the building as directed by the Bank’s law enforcement staff for check in. The leader must have an accurate count of teachers, chaperones, and guests.
  5. Visitors age 16 and over must present a valid driver’s license, school ID, or similar authorized photo identification.
  6. All Bank visitors are required to pass through a metal detector before entering the Bank. We strongly recommend that your group members refrain from bringing into the Bank personal property such as bags, backpacks, purses, and similar items. All such items that are brought into the Bank will be subject to X-ray scanning. No weapons of any kind or video equipment are allowed on the premises. Individuals carrying these or other prohibited items will be denied access to the building.

During the experience:

  1. Students must always stay with their assigned group/chaperone.
  2. Food, beverages, and gum are not allowed. Please leave them on the busses or dispose of them in the receptacles before entering the building.
  3. Please silence cell phones.
  4. Any individual or group whose behavior is disruptive will be asked to leave the Federal Reserve building.
  5. Photos are ONLY permitted in the Money Museum and the Historical Main Lobby. Anyone using a camera outside of those areas may be asked to leave the Bank immediately.

For teachers and chaperones

One adult chaperone is required for every 12 students in the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland building. Chaperones are responsible for their students’ behavior and adherence to the guidelines while visiting. Rosters must be emailed to learningcenter@clev.frb.org one week prior to your visit.

  1. Be sure to count your students before you arrive and before you leave the building.
  2. Teachers and chaperones are responsible for maintaining discipline as you would in the classroom.
  3. Students must remain in chaperoned groups during the visit. It is the responsibility of the chaperone to stay with the group and to keep their student group together.
  4. Tour cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to the scheduled tour date by contacting learningcenter@clev.frb.org.

Cincinnati

During a visit to the Cincinnati Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, students will learn about the functions of the Federal Reserve System, participate in hands-on activities, and tour the Branch’s cash operations.

  • Location: The Cincinnati Branch of the Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank is located at 150 East 4th Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202
  • Program length: 1–1.5 hours
  • Audience: Tours are provided to teachers, school groups (grades 8–12), college students, and community groups upon request
  • Group size: Groups should not exceed 35 individuals (including chaperones for school groups)
  • Cost: All tours are free of charge

The Cincinnati Branch does not have on-site parking. However, there are parking lots and garages within a few blocks of the branch on Main Street and Vine Street. We do not validate parking.

    • I-75 South.
    • Exit at 1(A) – 2nd Street Exit
    • Go past Paul Brown Stadium, to Great American Ball Park (Main Street)
    • Turn left (north) on Main
    • Turn left on 4th Street
  • From I-75/I-71 North (Kentucky)
    • Cross the Ohio River
    • Stay in far-right lane (2nd Street Exit)
    • Exit at 2nd Street (stay to right as exit is just after the bridge)
    • Turn left (north) on Main Street (just before the Great American Ball Park)
    • Turn left on 4th Street
  • From I-71 South
    • Exit I-71 South at 3rd Street
    • Turn right (north) on Main Street
    • Turn left on 4th Street

How to prepare for your visit

To ensure a safe and fun visit for your entire group, please follow these guidelines:

Prior to your visit

  1. One adult is required for every 15 students. All visitors 16 and older must present a driver’s license or similar photo identification before being admitted into the building.
  2. Split your class into two groups and assign a chaperone to each group.
  3. One week prior to your visit send an alphabetized list of ALL students, adults, and chaperones, with the first and last names to learningcenter@clev.frb.org. Please bring this list with you on the day of your visit. Any changes to the list must be made 24 hours in advance. No additions to the roster will be accepted the day of the tour.
  4. Tour cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to the scheduled tour date by contacting learningcenter@clev.frb.org.

  4. Each visitor will be given a “Special Event” pass upon arrival.

  4. Any individual or group whose behavior is disruptive will be asked to leave the Federal Reserve Bank building.
  5. Photography is not allowed in the Federal Reserve Bank building. This includes photos and videos taken by cell phones, digital cameras, or video cameras. Visitors will be asked to place their cell phones in a bin prior to entering the cash vault and can be reclaimed upon exiting the vault.
  6. A law enforcement officer will accompany each group as they tour the vault and cash processing areas.
