President Mester urges methodical rate increases to corral inflation

Fed policymakers are recalibrating monetary policy away from emergency levels of accommodation with the aim of bringing inflation under control while supporting economic expansion and healthy labor markets, President Mester told CNBC's Sara Eisen in an April 22 interview. Given current conditions, Mester said she favors multiple 50 basis point increases "rather than the shock of a 75 basis point" increase.
