President Mester discusses challenges of addressing racism in housing

Updating regulations for the Community Reinvestment Act could bolster investment in disadvantaged communities and would be part of a multi-faceted approach needed to combat housing discrimination, President Mester said in a March 1 conference on structural racism in housing markets presented by the Federal Reserve's 12 Reserve Banks. Mester spoke in a panel discussion with Atlanta Fed president Raphael Bostic and Neel Kashkari, president of the Minneapolis Fed, which hosted the virtual event.
