The highlighted presentations focus on two promising approaches in Northeast Ohio that target populations underrepresented in the labor market. Collaboration among employers, educational institutions, and the workforce development system can lead to better alignment between skill needs of employers and the training and education of workers. The highlighted initiatives include an employer-led initiative that partners with the education, public, and nonprofit sectors to meet workforce gaps in the healthcare industry and an apprenticeship program among a number of industry-led sector partnerships developed to meet the employment needs of manufacturers.
