What is RSS?

RSS is a format for syndicating news and the content of news websites, including major news sites like Wired, news-oriented community sites like Slashdot, and personal weblogs. Once information about each item is in RSS format, an RSS-aware program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way.

What tools do I need to use RSS?

You need a special news reader or aggregator that displays RSS content feeds from Web sites you select. Many news readers are available as desktop software (FeedDemon), but some are web based (Bloglines). A news aggregator can help you keep up with all your favorite weblogs by checking their RSS feeds and displaying new items from each of them.

How can I sign up for an RSS feed?

If you have one of the supported aggregators, select the link to subscribe to the feed. Otherwise click on the orange XML button ( ) and follow the instructions for your particular news reader to subscribe to RSS feeds.
