Please follow these instructions for
downloading and installing PSBOS32, PBWIN32 or PCRDS32. The word PSBOS32 is
used throughout the instructions. If you are downloading PBWIN32 or PCRDS32
substitute either of those words for PSBOS32. If you have questions about
installing the application(s), additional information can be found in the
User Guide(s).
1. Obtain Key Code
A Key Code
is required during the download process. If you have not received your Key Code
click on the link entitled 'Request key code' found on the 'U. S. Savings
Bonds - PC Applications Download Site' main page.
2. Select the application to be downloaded:
On the main download page you will see a grey box
containing the three applications which can be downloaded. To download
PSBOS32 click on the hyperlink Download PSBOS32 located in left
column.

Save the program to
your local hard drive
Once
you click on the hyperlink, the following screen will appear. Select
the ‘Save’ button.

Navigate to the
folder where the download file will reside
Please
navigate to the location where you want to save the file. Once you’ve
selected your location, click the ‘Save’ button again.

The
following status screen will appear as the PSBOS32_30_Self_Extract.exe file
is downloading.

Once
the download process has completed, click on ‘Close’ to close the screen.
7. Perform a virus scan on the downloaded file
Use your PC's virus scanning software to scan the
downloaded file. (For PSBOS32 the file to be scanned is
PSBOS32_30_Self_Extract.exe').
8. Navigate to the folder containing the zipped
download file
For PSBOS32 your folder should contain the
'PSBOS32_30_Self_Extract.exe' file. When you double click on this
file, you will again be asked to navigate to the location where you want to
save the files. Once the location is selected, click on ‘Unzip’ to
begin the unzip process.
9. Enter your Key Code
A box will appear asking you to type in a password (see
below). This is where you will enter the Key Code provided to you by your local
Savings Bond Processing Site. The Key Code should be entered in lower case.
Click on 'OK' after entering Key Code.
10. Files successfully unzipped
The following screen will appear after the files have
been unzipped successfully. Click ‘OK’ to close the screen. (If
the WinZip Self-Extractor screen is still open, click on ‘Close’ to close
this screen.)
11. Prepare for installation
Exit any applications you may have open on your PC. (this includes programs like Microsoft Office Toolbar,
Microsoft Findfast, etc).
12. Navigate to folder into which files were
extracted
Once you’re at your ‘download’ folder (noted in Step 8).
When you see the file called 'PSBOS32_30 setup.exe', you are in the correct
folder.
13. Start the installation
Double click on the 'PSBOS32_30 setup.exe' file to
activate the InstallShield setup wizard which
will guide you through the installation.
14. Welcome to the InstallShield
Wizard for PSBOS32_30
Click 'Next' on the screen below to begin the
installation process.
15. Ready to Install the Program
Since this is a simple install, click on 'Install' to
start the installation. A status screen will appear as the files are
installed.
16. Installation Complete
The screen shown below will display at the
completion of the installation, click 'Finish' and you’ll be ready to
go!
17. To run the application
Click on the Window START button and then go up
to PROGRAMS and then select the Application Name.
If you
would prefer you can create an icon with a shortcut pointing to the
application.
