James Thomson is vice president
and economist in the Research Department
of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.
Previously, he was vice president and director
of financial services research for the Bank's
Financial Services area, and he was an assistant
vice president and economist in the Research
Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of
Cleveland.Prior to joining the Bank in 1986,
Dr. Thomson worked as a financial economist
at the United States General Accounting
Office.
Dr. Thomson is a member of
the American Finance Association and the
Financial Management Association. He has
published numerous papers on federal deposit
insurance, banking, and bank capital regulation,
including articles in the Journal of Financial
Services Research, Review of Quantitative
Finance and Accounting, Journal of Banking
and Finance, Financial Management, Public
Budgeting and Financial Management: An International
Journal, Cato Journal, Journal of Financial
and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Money,
Credit and Banking, Advances In International
Banking and Finance, Research in Finance,
and Research in Financial Services: Private
and Public Policy.
Dr. Thomson received a B.S.
in economics from Georgia Institute of Technology,
and an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from
The Ohio State University.
