In World War II concentration camps, prisoners were forced to trade their currency for worthless paper. There was nothing to buy inside the camps, and the scrip had no value on the outside. A special exhibit, Questionable Issue: Currency of the Holocaust, displays 74 facsimiles of rare scrip from 11 Nazi-imposed camps and ghettos.

This exhibit is a visual reminder that the past will not be erased and a moving tribute to all whose voices were silenced.

Hours and Admission

This exhibit is presented courtesy of Holocaust Museum Houston, which is dedicated to educating people about the Holocaust, remembering the 6 million Jews and other innocent victims and honoring the survivors' legacy. Using the lessons of the Holocaust and other genocides, the Museum teaches the dangers of hatred, prejudice and apathy.
