Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland Announces Official Appointments
Cheryl Davis has joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland as vice president of community affairs, public information, and the office of the corporate secretary.
Prior to joining the Bank on February 9, 2004, Davis was vice president of the Greater Cleveland Growth Association, where she served as staff officer and senior advisor to the Association’s president. Davis has also served as director of strategic development for the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority and as special assistant to former Cleveland Mayor Michael White.
Davis holds a master's degree in public administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and a bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University.
Effective January 8, 2004, Mark Schweitzer was appointed assistant vice president and economist, responsible for the Bank's regional economic research.
Schweitzer joined the Bank’s Research Department in 1992 as an economist, and was named economic advisor in 2002. From 2000 to 2002, he served on the research staff of the Bank of England (the central bank of the United Kingdom) during a leave of absence from the Cleveland Fed.
Schweitzer earned doctoral and master's degrees in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles and a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Chicago.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is one of twelve regional Reserve Banks that, along with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., comprise the Federal Reserve System. As the nation's central bank, the Federal Reserve System formulates U.S. monetary policy, supervises certain banks and all bank holding companies, and provides financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, including its branch offices in Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, and its check processing center in Columbus, serves the Fourth Federal Reserve District, which includes Ohio, western Pennsylvania, eastern Kentucky, and the northern panhandle of West Virginia.
