Your Assignment

Movies, with their stories of intrique, mayhem, and love, are meant to entertain us. But movies also may convey important lessons. When you think about your favorite movie, what economic concepts are lurking behind the scenes? How do economics influence your favorite movie hero or villain?

Select your favorite movie — rated G, PG, or PG-13 — and write a brief essay discussing how that film illustrates a key economic principle. Does it teach a moral about economics or personal finance? Are the characters motivated by finances, or are they using economic thinking to make decisions?

(Remember: Don't assume your audience has seen the movie you are discussing.)
