Greg Stefani, First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Greg Stefani is first vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, the second ranking official in the Bank, and serves as its chief operating officer responsible for leading all administration, operating, and financial services activities in the Fourth Federal Reserve District. These activities include cash processing, check clearing, and electronic payments as well as related support functions, such as information technology services, financial management, strategic planning, human resources, protection, and facilities.

Prior to being named to his current position in November 2011, Mr. Stefani served as senior vice president and chief financial officer beginning in 2007 with responsibility for the Financial Support Services, Enterprise Risk Management, Strategy and Performance Management, Information Technology, Information Security, and Business Continuity functions.

Mr. Stefani joined the Bank in 1983 as a bank examiner. He has held positions of increasing responsibility within the Supervision and Regulation, Credit Risk Management, and Statistics and Analysis departments, including establishing a function to assess capital markets activities in supervised Fourth District financial services organizations.

He became assistant vice president in 1996 and was promoted to vice president in 1999. In 2006, he established an organization-wide Policy and Strategic Analysis function designed to elevate the Bank’s contributions to banking and payments policy issues.

Mr. Stefani is active in the Fourth District’s civic community. He is immediate past president (2007–2010) and a current member of the board of University Settlement, Inc, a non-profit social services organization serving the Broadway/Slavic Village community. He is also a member of Financial Executives International (FEI) and the Risk Management Association (RMA). In 2010, he completed Leadership Cleveland, a program designed to build leadership resources within the greater Cleveland community.

A native of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Mr. Stefani received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and finance and an MBA from Bowling Green State University. He is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program and the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Colorado.
