Check Processing
The Cleveland Fed’s check processing function clears interbank checks (those drawn on one financial institution and deposited in another). It debits the account of the institution on which the check was drawn and credits the account of the collecting institution. Check-processing consolidations, which are now underway, will make Cleveland one of four regional sites in the Federal Reserve System to provide a full range of check-processing services.
